Build a mini tec chiller what yall think?

2 90 watt tecs 2 cheap thermal take water blocks, cost 50 bucks knocks 5c off my ambient temps and about 1 to 2 c off average load temps after my 280mm rad, probable going to upgrade tecs and hot side sink ill post some updates and temp charts soon.700700

That's pretty cool lol So I take it's just to lower case temps?

well its a mini chiller for my cpu loop the hot side is one the heat sink mounted on top

first time building anything with tecs so i know its a little cheesy lol

I calculated about 48Qmax with a delta of about 30°C at 12V. How hot is that little heatsink? Can't imagine it's actually that hot cause it's meant to cool a server CPU.

EDIT: OH! So it's an Air to Liquid chiller. What kinda CPU are you cooling with it? Something tells me the heatsink is pretty warm lol

Oh boy, that looks neat! Only bad thing about that is the power it takes to run the CPU cooler :/ also, that fan looks loud.

takes about 113W to run the TECs. It's just not very efficient, if you used a higher voltage TEC, like the 400W Qmax one at 12V it would be much better, but you would have to beef up the cooling for the hot side and the wiring connections, as it would pull more current.

If you did that, you could cool about 90W with a 30°C delta, using 144W, or 163W @ 20°C delta with 156W.

Or if you ran it at 9V, you could get 48W Qmax @ 30°C with 76W used.

48W Qmax / 113W = 42.3% Efficient (2x 40mm)
48W Qmax / 76W = 63.2% Efficient (1x 62mm)
90W Qmax / 144W = 62.5% Efficient (1x 62mm)

It is very cool what you have made! You numbers look quite effective.
Have you tried to turn down/off the fans on the dual radiators see how low your loop temperature can go?
(+rep for experimenting with TEC)

Highly recommend water cooling hot side of pelts, but you do good work sir, that looks really good! Welcome to the crazy, inefficient world of tecs lol.

ya lol thanks for the advice guys im probable going to use 2 231 watt tecs with 2 antec 620s once i acquire some extra cash and a 500 watt power supply probable run them at 12v or 5 v depending, also to i didnt even think about turning the fans off probable try that either tonight or tomorrow record some temps from coretemp and post them. owh and the processor its cooling is a fx-8120 at 4.5 ghz for now i did have it at 4.8 but for some reason my mother board does some stupid crap where, when i wake the pc out of sleep it de-clocks the multipliers to 4ghz but the voltage goes up .200 from what it was scared me once i caught it it was at 1.62vcore from 1.42 so i had to lower to 4.5 ghz for now until i can figure out what this bug is coming from the processor at 4.5 ghz pulls around 152 watts according to my cheapo wall socket meter.
