Agreed. I'm hoping to turn this into a low-lit, minimalistic build. Something that reflects the military's "function over fashion" mentality.

 

I'm glad you agree, I decided that with all the other nice components on the list, there was no reason to not go big on the GPU as well.

I hear that the 600 series runs cooler than the 500s, so 'aftermarket' cooling may not be needed anyway.

The benches that I've seen online seem to back that assertion up.  Plus I figure with all these case fans and only running a single 670 (with a backplate too), I'll easily handle the heat coming off the GPU.

I'm working on a similar build with the military green C70, I'd love to see updates to this guy...

Any luck finding a spray paint that matches the finish? I'm looking for ideas on how to get the optical drive and fan controller (both black) to look like they belong.

I'd love to be posting updates for you guys.  Now that the fall semester has started, money's gotten tighter than expected, and this got pushed to the back burner.  Still dreaming about it though.  haha smile.gif

 

The case will be one of the first parts I purchase (so I can be sure everything will fit and match) and I will be sure to let you guys know.  I need to find Olive Drab paint that matches so I can paint fan rings and other things as well.  Hopefully the local surplus store or CheaperThanDirt will have spray cans that match.

I had a C70 in military green before I bought a 800D so I def like what you are doing so far.

I had 2 670 ftw's in sli in my C70 and during games like Crysis 2 and Metro 2033 I would get around 70C with in no time. I would def have a fan blowing on your 670 off the HD rack and 1 off the floor to help keep the temps down during gpu intensive games.
