[Build Log] "Maiden America" - A Military Themed Corsair C70 Build - Page 13

Maiden is looking good since last time I saw the pics. I like the push pull with all corsair fans! I've been slowly adding all cougar orange ones to mine. Really like them and they match the theme, but i want to try the corsairs badly!

How do you like that 7950? I'm really wanting to get a second 6950 for mine and try CF to know if in the future its worth doing and if I like it or if ill just go for single cards from now on. been tryign to find a good one on ebay but no luck frown.gif I love farcry 3 myself and I want to max it biggrin.gif

These SP120s move some serious air, and I really like them on the rad. Plus having all matching fans just looks badass imo.

For me it was a no-brainer. Got it for less than 300 bucks, got a great cooler on it, I'm running 1GHz/1300MHz on the core/memory easy, and could push further even on stock volts. It runs really cool, and didn't really raise my case temps too much. Plus it came with like 160 bucks worth of free games (Far Cry 3, Hitman, Sleeping Dogs) so I think it was a steal. I'd love to CF with another one and run at least one more display.

I'm studying Ocean engineering (basically civil until senior year, then all offshore and ocean related structures and systems) thumb.gif And thanks! I just hope I can make it through May haha. Got my first job offer today and two 2nd round notifications so I'm ready to move on to real world money and doing fun things on the weekend!

I've still been thinking about how to do some LED lighting in my case. Have 3 different options I've come up with, so I decided to get some input from OCN. I'm also open to ideas that aren't listed here!

1st option: Corsair Link Lighting Node (~$30)

Pros: Hooks straight up to my H100i, has 3 LED strips, RGB, Can color change based on temp, etc in Link software, Plug-n-play.

Cons: Has to use the Corsair Link software (it constantly accesses my 1TB HDD and won't let it park the heads, only fix I've found so far is to uninstall it.), more wires to run to the cpu block, could potentially look too busy.

2nd option: NZXT Hue (~$30)

Pros: Sleek styling, great even light output, RGB, can cycle/flash/etc, plug-n-play

Cons: Will take up a 5.25" bay and be visible from the outside of the case, may not really match case styling,

3rd option: Custom DIY LEDs (Free or Cheap)

Pros: Can use white 12v LEDs and molex connectors I already have, spotlight particular components, add or subtract LEDs fairly easily, E-peen of custom-made, can use tools/materials at work to make wiring

Cons: Uneven lighting, only white light if I use the lights I have, issues mounting lights without drilling holes or making a mess.

I'm personally leaning towards the NZXT Hue, and attempting to find a paint color that matches the case, or simply leaving it black. What do you guys think?

I vote for the Hue!! I have it and it works great and is customization to pretty much any color you want. And the other day I checked that it can actually have the front controller easily removed from the plastic tray. And could probably be hidden somewhere else if you wanted to instead of taking up a bay with it. Shouldn't be that big an issue because once you find a color and mode you like, I never really messed with mine. So once you find the winning combo you could stash it out of sight

There are a good number of pictures in both my 300r build thread and the c70 build thread i started, so if you want to see the different light combos and light level put out then just take a quick scroll through those threads

i also just bought a 60 cm length of bitfenix alchemy lights. They work really well although a bit pricey. I like the hue because its more light (less leds though) and customizable. But phobya and bitfenix both have great led strip colors out. only thing about bitfenix one i have is that the power cord is pretty short. the hues is decently long

Awesome, I'll look into the option of taking it out of the plastic tray, because I'm not opposed to doing that once I get the colors set like I want. Thanks for the help! thumb.gif

I just ordered the largest decal (8" tall) from Victory Girl that they had in their webstore, though I know I could have requested a larger size.

pinup-maidenamerica.jpg

Cut her out from the oval background they had her on, and placed her like this:

(*Note that the silver mark to the left of her is just where I scuffed the side of my case a while back doh.gif)

I feel like that's a good size, and that I'll do some other decals as well on the side panel. Maybe a bomber silhouette up top. I know it's not exactly what I had planned, but this was a lot easier and less time consuming. Let me know what you guys think!
