Got my 5 Corsair AF120's in today.  Left the red rings in until I decide what color to paint the white ones and swap (Black, OD, etc?).  Having to run my 3.5" fan controller in a kind of "ghetto-rigged" setup to run my fans since this motherboard doesn't have anywhere near enough fan plugs.  These are my case fans, and then I'll decide if I want to order a pair of the SP120's when I pick up my H100 down the road.  Took some decibel measurements with my phone, though I don't know how accurate it is.  Anyways, here's some more pictures for you to enjoy!

For the two "decibel meter" photos, the one on the left is the fans on full speed.  The right is the halfway setting on my fan controller.  These things move a ton of air and I can't wait to set  up some custom fan profiles with that Z77 Sabertooth. Very impressed with the quality, both of the product and the packaging.  Only gripe so far is that the cables are short, but I have/can get extension cables no problem.

Thanks!  School and work are taking up so much of my time right now, but hopefully I'll get ahead of the bills and homework long enough to buy the motherboard and processor pretty soon. I'm glad you guys are still interested! biggrin.gif

No major updates yet.  Almost have the money saved up for mobo and processor though!

I did order a cheap SATA cable so I could run my DVD drive. It's too short to route correctly, but I'm not worried about it.  Still loving my "stealthed" drive mod. ph34r-smiley.gif

Also saw that Newegg was running a $14 off sale on this Team Xtreem RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313238

Team Xtreem Dark 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM

DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model TXD316G1600HC9QC-D

It was $60 shipped (much better than the $100 for the Corsair Kit), and from what I've read, is much more overclockable.  It's a bit of a gamble seeing as that I haven't heard much about this company, but saving $40 bucks means a lot when I'm scrimping in order to get the rest of these components. And if I need to RMA it, it's not a big deal.

Plus, I have noticed from several photos that the "Vengeance Green" DIMMs from Corsair actually look more gold-ish. These are black, and still have aggressive looking heatsinks.

On a completely different note, I've still been racking my brain for case mods to do.  I want the solid side window, but I also want to do more.  Now that I know that spare doors are available, I feel that some work with the Dremel is in order... Busy week with school, but maybe some photoshop renderings if I get time biggrin.gif

Picked up a 18 x 24 x .220" sheet of acrylic at Home Depot yesterday for $20. Still kinda pricey IMO, but better than $70 for that huge sheet at the local place.

Decided to take the time to make my solid side window today.  We've got a pretty sweet "machine shop" up at work, and since the boss-man said "You work here, use it anytime you want!". With that in mind, I measured and cut the acrylic on the bandsaw, and used the old window as a template/guide for the holes. Had to add some thin moulding "spacers" to get a snug fit, but I think it came out quite nice. Now to just get some parts that look good behind it. biggrin.gif

Hopefully gonna have the funds to order motherboard and processor in the next week or two! biggrin.gif

As for an update (cause I know you guys like pictures), I received my 16GB of Team Xtreem RAM in the mail yesterday. All 4 sticks are recognized and run flawlessly at stock clocks and speeds (1600MHz 9-9-9-24).  Haven't run MemTest yet, but I doubt I will unless I start having issues.  I did attempt to push the clock on them, but this mobo and processor I'm running did not seem to like that at all. Decided I'd save the OC'ing for when I get the i5 installed.  Without further delay, pictures!

I kinda wish these had a black PCB, but I do really like the heat spreaders.  Tight fit with my current cooler, but won't be a problem with the H100. Lifetime warranty is nice.

Was brainstorming during statistics lecture today, a quick teaser photo of one idea I was toying with... wink.gif

Been trying to think of some things I can add to the case (structurally & aesthetically) that would set it apart from the rest of the C70s out there and yet stick with the 'Maiden America' theme...

My motherboard came in today, got the rig swapped back into the old Challenger case to run fro the time being. (Did that while I was watching the results come in from the polls.)  This mobo is even sweeter in person. Very impressed.  Also worked on some preliminary cable management.  3570K should be here on Friday I guess.  Get paid in the morning so I'm probably going to order the AX850 PSU and possibly the H100 tonight or tomorrow.  Anyways, here's some pictures for you guys. Enjoy!

Some things I still need to do:

  • Paint the fan rings and the DVD drive body and possibly the HDD adapter brackets (Black?)
  • May get an HDMI to DVI adapter to use until I get a GPU since my 22" display only has a DVI input.
  • I wish the CPU 8pin connector was a little longer so I could route it better on the backside, but that's just nit-picking, since you guys will be the only ones to ever see it.
  • Once the H100 gets here, I really want to see if I can run push-pull. I know most say it can't be done with this mobo/case combo, but I want to at least try it.

Looks great! BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET THE NEW H100I !!!!! looks better and should perform better and have any of its predecessors issues solved. Just wanted to make sure you knew the new one is now released because I've seen a few people purchase the older version the past few days and then say they wish they had waited. can't go wrong if theres a deal on it though (older version). Kepp up the build biggrin.gif

Thanks!  Is there any way to know that I have the new version (lot number?) or do we know of a retailer that is for sure only shipping the updated ones?  I've seen the pump grinding issues and for sure want to avoid that.

*Edit*

Just saw you said new "H100I", I skipped over it. lol  Thanks for the tip! thumb.gif

I just googled "updated H100" and found the new H100i.  No one had any in stock except for the Corsair site, so I went ahead and ordered one straight from them. Pretty much the same price point as the old H100, and it comes with Corsair Link already integrated to monitor coolant temp and fan speed.  Will let you guys know how it works!
