@JonnyFenix

That's not a 560Ti, it is a 560. Which is over priced. He should get a 6870. It performs better than a 7770 and a 560.

Ok,

I am now considering of building up a new rig.

To start off, I am thinking of getting Core i5 2500k

What is the best GPU partner for this? 6870?
What motherboard? That will support Ivy Bridge.
PSU?

I will just save and will buy 2-3months from now.

You might find some deals.

I wouldn't change the CPU. I would invest the money on the GPU; that is the thing limiting you the most to play games.

You could grab a 5870 for around 100$ and that would be a huge upgrade compared to the GPU you got.

Max I would spend for a 1gb card is 100-125$ (5850/5870 & gtx560 448), 150-175$ for 2gb (HD69XX).

Just send PM with your offer and see what they reply. Usually the seller is whiling to do a fast trade.

I think you would be fine for quite a bit if you change the GPU, mobo, ram (ddr3 w/ 8gb if possible) & psu 450w from a good brand. Again you can find some deals on the classified for your upgrade. The only thing I wouldn't buy used is the PSU. Don't go cheap on a PSU, buy from a good brand.

Can you suggest a good dd3 mobo then?

I would concur that a core2 quad should still be plenty beefy enough to play games. my only concern is does it support ddr3 memory? I'm not well versed in intel, as i'm an AMD guy myself. Tambunting, where are you located? Do you have Microcenters nearby? They have deals all the time where you can get combos of a motherboard and chip for great prices for either amd or intel, but if your wanting to just keep your core2 quad that would be understandable.

I am sure you can hunt the web for this. I won't tell you it is going to be the easiest way but you will get more bang for your bucks. I would take a tour into a computer shop and ask what they have. If they indeed have ddr3 mobo lga 775, take in note the product number & price and go check review or if there is a lower priced item. You can also find some goodies in the classifieds (not only here at OCN).

ASUS P5G41TM it's a $50 mobo. http://ph.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5G41TM_LX3/#specifications

Asrock G41M-VS3 VSL/ddr3

I also have a question about Gigabyte GAG41M-Combo ddr2/ddr3, combo means that I can either choose to put ddr3 or ddr2 ram?

DO all 775socket board only supports upto DX10?

And guys, can you tell me which GPU would best support my C2Q.

technically speaking as far as i know, the only thing that determines DX compliance is your OS and video card choice. like if you had a 9800GT2 or a GTX 280 but windows 7 you would be limited to DX10 because of the video cards only supporting DX10

So here I am with the items that I found in the local shops here.

Mobo: ASUS P5Q SE2(2nd Hand) = $59 / Gigabyte GA G41M Combo = $61
Case: AeroCool Strike X = $57
PSU: FSP Epsilon Series 80Plus 600W = $77
RAM: G.Skill RIpJaws 8GB (2x4) If am going with GA G41M = $55
HSF: CM Hyper 212 EVO = $36
GPU: PowerColor HD 6850 1GB DDR5 = $147 / PowerColor HD 6770 1GB DDR5 = $126

Total: w/ ASUS P5Q and 6850 = $376
w/ ASUS P5Q and 6770 = $355

w/ Gigabyte GA G41M, GSkill RAM and 6850 = $433
w/ Gigabyte GA G41M, GSkill RAM and 6770 = $412

w/ Gigabyte GA G41M and 6850 = $378
w/ Gigabyte GA G41M and 6770 = $357

I can also get a ASUS P5G41TM DDR2/DDR3 which also allows OC'ing.

Which should i choose? And which is best for performance and cost wise?

I know that I can OC my Q8400 well with P5Q but with GA G41M it's impossible. Also, I don't have plans in doing crossfire.

Additional information: At the moment I have a 4GB(2X2) KVR Kingston 800Mhz RAM

Advice Advice Advice please. Need it before I click on buy smile.gif

Regards,

PS.

It's expensive here so don't laugh at the prices smile.gif
