The drivers definitely fix the BF3 issue. For the card's audio performance and quality, it is way overpriced.

The software is terrible.

How is the software terrible? Its stable, does what its supposed to and its out of the way for the most part. I also have a D2X and so I have something to compare it to.

New products always have driver problems at launch, its just the price you pay for early adoption.

Sad there is no driver updates beyond that beta. mad.gif

The software, in comparison to the older Xonar cards is terrible.

!) There are 2 3D upmix methods. The Xear3D is horrible. It simply does not work. It does not upmix sounds as it should. The other is the Dolby Theater. Awful. ASUS' previous interface had legacy skinning, but it worked very well in movies, music and games.

2) There is no ASIO support in the new driver.

3) The card has excellent components, but its music playback sounds like crap in comparison to the Essence ST and STX. The card's DAC and ADC chips are decent for its price. Its Op-Amps are as well, but the card simply sounds like onboard audio.

I spent a month with that card. Nothing but disappointed in every aspect of it.

So its the software thats at fault? I think it sounds pretty good compared to the Creative Recon3D I had prior. That had software issues as well. I have faith that Asus will update the drivers as they have been consistently updating the firmware to my Asus router. I just wonder in regards to the Phoebus what the hell is taking so long?

If you visit the ROG site, you will see nothing but answers from ASUS saying, "Send a full detailed report to our driver team........." and then nothing.

I never thought ASUS would drop the ball like it has with the Phoebus.

I owned both the STX and the Phoebus, the drivers are terrible and caused me many blue screens when gaming(the third party drivers are bad too), build quality is good though.

They could solve a lot of their problems if they just focused on Dolby DT instead of continuing to pursue the shoddy EAX coding that they do which is the cause of most of my windows errors and blue screens when I was using these cards.

I'd never buy one of their sound cards again I'd always recommend a Creative X-FI Titanium HD or a HT Omega Claro Halo instead depending upon what you are doing.
