have you tried clearing your cmos? whether or not you update it all asrock z77 come with bios that support lga 1155. Its going to be a waste of your time to go to microcenter unless you just get a new mobo.
If your mobo says supports lga 1155 then it doesnt matter whether its a 2600k a celeron or 2500k or w.e itll all be the same
microcenter isnt going to flash your bios for you, most likely your going to end up getting a new mobo.
i dont see why your going to extremes with this think logically.
try another gpu? because bios can always be fixed by clearing cmos, so im positive its not a bios issue. its not a cpu support issue if u have a lga 1155 socket mobo with a 1155 cpu, you havent been able to get into bios to even mess it up in the first place. only thing plausible is the gpu. since you barely got it yesterday worst case scenario its a bad gpu

Yeah, I've had it wired to speakers this whole time. No beeping.
Basically then, I might as well get the z77 and lose the z68?

I believe they do if it hasn't been too long since you bought it. I would call AsRock tech support, though; if they think it is dead, then you can return it as dead and get a full refund, and if they don't think it is dead, they probably will give you a way to fix it. Also, you could always sell it.

True true. I sent them an Email earlier, couldn't find their number.
I'll look for it again, Hopefully I can call tomorrow.

No, you're wrong. Check the link again. http://www.asrock.com/mb/cpu.asp?Model=Z68%20Extreme3%20Gen3

This clearly states that the processor will NOT work on all bios versions. Resetting the cmos does NOT update the bios. So an IVY bridge will NOT work on all bios of this board without an update. There is a thread listed here that shows that an IVY bridge put into this motherboard without a BIOS update will show codes of faulty memory, the same code he is seeing! Since the link above shows that his processor is NOT supported on all bios versions, we can conclude that since this motherboard is new out of the box, that HE NEEDS this bios update to support his processor. Buying a new mobo is not the best option! Updating the bios is! To do this he only needs a compatible processor just long enough to flash, and then he should be good to go.

Don't give bad advice, it can be worse than none.

I don't even know what to do anymore..
I'm basically out of options here.

Should I just get a new mobo then? Or see if Microcenter can fix it:\
post #70 of 88
I don't know anything about microcenter, or their service department. I've never been to one. But a computer shop that has a compliant CPU (like a 2500k) lying around will have the ability to help you update your bios. Your motherboard is one I've worked with before and it's pretty good. There's no need to discard it just because you need a bios update. As I don't know your current BIOS version, I am not going to tell you I'm 100% that the update will solve your problem. But I've stated the reasons in my previous posts so there's no need to repeat. You need a BIOS update to make that processor work. Catch 22 since you can't get into the bios with the processor you have to update it. You need one on the list that has "since BIOS ALL" to be able to post into BIOS so you can flash it to it's up to date version. Then you should be able to use your processor and post with it, RAM should work once your processor works. Update bios. <<<<
