What I don't get is why they continue to make decisions like this. Obviously, a huge majority of the people here don't like EA, and a good portion pretty much have vowed to never buy an EA game again. What I don't get is why they would anger these few remaining optimistic and willing customers by making things harder for them. The only game I'm interested in EA for is Dead Space 3, and even that looks like a huge maybe at this point considering the direction they're taking. I know I didn't buy BF3 because of the problems that EA has been creating.

this = you can no longer play a game in flight or on the go without paying $$$$ and sometimes you are left without the net anyway.

If they develop the kind of DRM that can't be cracked , kinda like Diablo 3 and it would mean you can't pirate the game that could actually work to the benefit of PC gaming.
It could mean more PC only titles , better quality ports and no problem and excuses about pirates , in this case not enough i wouldn't have a problem with it but i would be really happy about it.
Even now i don't have a problem with DRM , I'm very happy when i see all the fake cracks/offline emulators on TPB and record sales numbers for PC only game.
Not saying this is due to always online DRM but it sure had it's impact , imagine how many people would pirate D3 and just play SP !! , sure D3 had a rocky start and was very annoying at times but now they worked out the problems and it works fine.

diablo3 has already been pirated with offline mode and i only play single player anyway as it has no real multiplay at all and certainly not worth the $79 that i've paid for. honestly there is no stopping pirates so why not win your customers rather then losing them by pissing them off

less pirates does not mean more PC titles or quality ports, it just means more money that the publishers can waste on advertising. only a small amount of money for game development ever reaches the actual devs them selves and the rest is pocketed by big name publishers.

The the entire amount of development money Mojang has spent is less than EA spends in a year on on-site security. It's not even a comparison. Why would you not care about piracy? Even if it was trivial financially, as a game developer someone pirating your work is someone deciding that they want-but won't pay for-the project you just spent 1-3 years of your life working on daily. Trying to fix the problem by introducing DRM is less effective than trying to get rid of a glacier with a blowtorch. In the end, you are down money, and have accomplished practically nothing. You can't force people to stop doing illegal things, the harder you try, the more people hate you. If people aren't going to pay for your work, then they are never going to pay for your work; just make money off of the many people who are willing to pay. Also, in the end, how does this not come down to financials? Amount of money spent on DRM is not proportional to the number illegal copies, so they should just stop trying so hard.
