EA knows we hate them and they know they are horrible company , so they develop this always on-drm system so one day when things go wrong with EA they block us from playing games sneaky rolleyes.gif

I really don't know much at all about programing or coding but.. what exactly is the reason all of the companies are flocking toward online DRM? Is it just the easiest way? Is there not different way to program/code the game to stop piracy? I'm sure it would be hard and people would still find a way to steal but it seems like going that direction would do the least amount of harm to paying customers thinking.gif

With such a long thread I don't know if anyone has stated that Steam is basically a form of always on DRM, but we mustn't forget; Valve can do no wrong. =P

When I'm away from an internet connection and playing games, I'm playing them from my Steam account.... OFFLINE.

You still have to be connected to the internet to put Steam in offline mode. I can't explain my anger how many times I've gone to a lan when I haven't put Steam in offline mode before leaving.

No you don't. If I'm away from the internet and Steam can't connect when it tries because I didn't set it to start in offline mode, it asks me if I want to start in offline mode. Though I usually put it into offline mode before I leave the house, I don't have to, so long as the credentials are saved.

Offline only screws up if there was a major change in the browser, like when IE8 went to IE9 or if Steam was updating.

This. Maybe it doesnt work here for G. Callen, but :

I just tried to sign into both Steam and Origin and launch a game while being offline. Yes, thats right. Both Origin and Steam loaded my account into offline Mode. Steam had a pop-out-ask window, Origin loaded almost immediately telling me some features arent available in offline mode. Test games were BF3 and CS:GO, both loaded without any issues in offline mode. wink.gif

Idk, maybe this game is different ? I dont really know redface.gif

When I see people who hate EA because of their DRM go after the thieves (who forced the DRM upon the paying customer with their inexcusable entitlement-centric behavior) as well, then I'll take their opinion seriously.

Hmm, that's interesting because it's seems as long I am always fighting Steam to get it to work for me. The only time it really works is when I am at home when it's constantly connected to the internet and even then it presents some trouble.
