Uh, no.

MSE is enough for 99% of use cases; It's light, it's free and it works.

If anything is overrated, it's the heuristic scanners in products like Norton, Avast and others that are incredibly vulnerable to false positives, whereas MSE almost always comes away with a perfect score in this area in the various AV comparatives.

I always get a chuckle out of the people that don't run A/Vs but "know" everything is fine because they haven't noticed anything.

That's like saying you know your phone isn't tapped because you don't notice anything when you make phone calls. Thaaaat's pretty much the point.

Most malware is written to do its best not to alert the user, else they'll feel inclined to remove it.

Just practice smart browsing and you'll avoid 99% of issues.

Who cares, Antivir is not as popular among consumers as Norton and McAfee. If you ever go to a mainstream electronic store and took a walk down their laptops and desktops aisle almost all the machines come preinstalled with Norton or McAfee.

MSE has yet to cause a system stopping issue, it's free and it never bugs you with ads or expiration dates.

Any decent malware is mostly drive-by and unnoticed.

Oh god this^^^ Anyone not running AV on a PC is asking from trouble.

And to the people who say they have been running no AV for years, and never had a problem... That is a problem in itself, you have no idea what you computer is infected with, I bet if they installed something and ran a scan there would be countless detections...
