Well, I can't say from personal experience but I think I can recall reading on a couple of sites that shrouds don't really do much to help. Sure they'll eliminate the deadspots from behind each fans center, but other than that I think the effect is negligible. Don't take just my word for it though, I'd think some other people who've used them or tested them could say for certain.
