QWERTY places all of the most used letters on the keyboard as far away from eachother as possible, to prevent jams when using a typewriter. If you want to type as well as possible, and aren't lazy like me, you should use the Dvorak keyboard.

TRY IT! type TYPEWRITER on your keyboard, notice the all those letters are on the top row

qwerty was designed so that those who are selling the typewriter can fool the consumers to buy it because they will be able type way faster with it, they demo'ed typing with it by typing TYPEWRITER, those letters are all in top row so you dont need to search for too long, enabling the seller to type fast!
