help building a budget "gaming pc" - Page 4

Just drop it. No sense in taking this any further. The OP has options that's all. If anything the stats just showed that it could go up. If he was really in a pinch he could use it and save $30, and if he wasn't hurting he could go i3. What he wants to do, is on him, his budget, and personal preference. As long as he's happy I'm happy for him. My problem was with the implication that I'm trying to throw his cash away and don't care about what's best for him. If that was the case why waste my time from the start. Yes, that comment was ignorant because it questioned my integrity. That's the point. I don't intend on doing that here or anywhere else for that matter. If a mod would care to clean this thread up, I won't mind a bit. It was never my intention for something as innocuous as a simple suggestion to turn into a pissing contest.

If you don't now the answer to something, don't make up an answer. Makes you look like a child, "buddy boy."
I dunno about small. I upgraded from a volt modded 8800GT to a 560SE (between a 550Ti and a 560 Vanilla in terms of performance) and I get at least double FPS in almost all my games.
ATI or NVIDIA all boils down to personal preference and your game collection, though. Either or.

Ok, maybe not small, but not as big as it could be.

Your SE is pretty close to a 460 in performance, which is still quite a bit more powerful than a 550Ti. Having said that, the gap is closer from your card to a 550Ti, than the op's 9800gt to the 550Ti

460 vs. 550Ti

8800 (9800gt) vs. 550Ti

Having done a little more research, maybe the best way to go would be a used 460? Still hold up pretty well as long as you don't turn up all the eye candy.

mobo:ASRock B75 PRO3 LGA 1155

it was actually a combo for under 120 on newegg..
as far as the hdd and psu, and video card im going to reuse the ones that are in my current computer 575w psu, evga 9800gt oc
what would be a good cpu/ram that isn't going to break the bank? i don't mind "second hand"

As well it should be because You could have gotten the same case and a $50 H61 board that would do the same thing for $90
I'm not going to knock the case biggrin.gif
CPU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115077
RAM:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Memory+%28Desktop+Memory%29-_-SAMSUNG-_-20147096

or you could try to find a used 2500K in the OCN marketplace..

Pros: Great board for not overclocking.
Boots quickly
Nice BIOS

I personally will not buy or recommend AsRock products..They boot quick, though.

and I have to do this
