Phenom x-6 1100t 2 cores?

Thread Starter
I'm happy with my rig at the moment so i don't want to get a new CPU just boost the performance of my x-6 1100t.

It's currently overclocked to 4.1ghz with 6 cores enabled.( could go to 4.5 easy)

I heard that many programs and games don't utilize more than 2 cores. So i was wondering if it would be a nice performance increase in games to disable 4 cores and overclock the two cores to hopefully 5ghz+.

most things use 4 cores now day, so going down to 2 cores even at 5ghz is going to kill performance.

wonder how you disable or enable cores in bios? are these specifically functions for specific mobo or any mobo can do that? it seems that my asrock 990fx extreme 4 doesnt have any capability and such.

I would disable 2 cores in BIOS ..It's under the cpu tab..
Unless you have some mega-golden chip..You're probably looking at 4.4-4.5 stable.
I have a 1075T that does 4.4 stable with 4 cores active..(I hope)
idk cause the board is dead..hoping the chip survived.
I can't wait to get a CH 5

There's no way you're hitting 5 GHz without phase/dice/ln2.

This is a flawed argument the vast majority of the time.

Lock it to a Quad at 4193mhz with a 3k NB and 1864memory sounds good to me.

Runs very cool like that. (idle voltage is high Main board is a GA-990FXA-UD5 load voltage is 1.392v)

Disabling cores doesn't necessarily yield much better results. I can go 4.2 on all six cores. When disabling cores I can go to 4.3 but core 1 which cannot be disabled fails everytime I try higher. Seems the one I cannot disable is the second worst core in my CPU which is a shame. Haven't found any way around it.
