I can't tell you much but its pretty simple. Single pass means the water only passes over the fans once. That's why there is an inlet on one side and outlet on the other

A Double pass means it passes over the fans twice. Both the inlet and outlet are on the same side of the rad so the water goes down the left side, does a 180, goes up the right side and out. Because the water is in the radiator longer, you get better temps because it is dissipating more heat.

Thats about the best I can explain it.

The only benefits of single pass/Crossflow is that you get better positioning of the inlet/outlet and there is a lot less restriction. I've talked to a few of the WCing vendors like Jab-tech and they specifically don't sell single pass rads since the performance is really bad and no one buys the rads until it is a complete loss to the company.
