[CVG] EA: Core gamers 'sometimes have issues with Origin' - Page 7

I think EA went to take a look at the steam sales and found out steam just generated a ton of cash from Indie game sales. What now? Allow Kickstarter games to be listed then offer it as the new "Indie Niche" Bundle.

Until that day, Origin will be that program I hide on my PC unless I feel like playing BF3...

Double standards for the win! When has Valve put their games on Origin wink.gif? Why should EA put theirs on Steam if they don't feel it's to their advantage?

Steam had a shaky start but because Valve TOOK CARE OF ITS CUSTOMERS it won them over onto steam
if you cant win customers with service and dedication the customers wont follow you

How did they do so? Last I saw, they offered no tech support, no refund on glitchy/outright-defective games, no phone support, no live chat support, and require you to login every time to start your games. Origin by comparison has lenient policies offering tech support, refunds+game removal from account in needed cases (yes, personal experience), has phone numbers readily available, has live chat, and does not require you to run Origin for most titles on there.

Sooooooo, what exactly did Valve do other than make one of the most consumer-unfriendly services online ever with Steam by shoehorning Half-Life 2 into it a long time ago?

And yet most 'core' gamers STILL prefer Steam to Origin. ROFL. People vote with their wallets. Steam sales are routinely some of the best. Occasionally I'll see Amazon, Gamersgate, or Greenmangaming offering better individual game deals but rarely ever Origin. EA has said they are unwilling to discount games as deeply as Steam does for fear of cheaping intellectual property. So it's no surprise who gets all the love.

You should get into stand-up comedy, because that is by far some of the funniest material I've ever heard.

Oh...wait, you were serious. Perhaps you should actually try to use EA support before commenting on it, because I'm willing to bet your view of them will change. They may have live chat/phone line/whatever, but they give you the worst service with canned responses and if they can't solve your problem they just say "meh" and give up.

I can't comment on Origin support, because I have never used it, but the only time I have needed Steam support I found it very good; they replied to my e-mail within a few hours with a fix to the problem. Once I had fixed it they sent me another e-mail confirming that everything looked good from their end and gave me a case number to follow up with if it happened again.

I know this is one case out of many, and I have read horror stories on both ends (especially about EA customers being banned from online play for swearing or bashing EA on their forums), but it made me personally very happy with the level of support that Steam offered.

I find the Origin CS to be better/faster than Steam because its a live chat session as opposed to an email type system. Like others have said though, I only have origin installed for BF3...

You can also call them which helps... You get just put through to India and speak to "Barry".

Thread Starter
For some reason I've only got really good service from the chat support EA has. Always found the solution and I've gotten a free game and my BF veteran status was raised to the maximum for my troubles.

I guess it's hit and miss, but I would still rate it higher than valve's support, which is in my opinion probably the biggest issue with steam at the moment.

I've used it, had an issue registering my Dragon Age key and they gave me a new one. Clearly they aren't as bad as you seem to imply or I must have just gotten their one awesome support person... tongue.gif

I find it amusing that so many people in this thread needed to contact EA support in the first place. I think that fact alone seems to indicate there are major problems with their games/download client.
