Man looking at your sig really takes me back. Socket 939 and Opty 165's lmao the good ol' days! Where breaking 3ghz was a big deal haha I think I had a DFI Lanparty then along with maybe an 7800GTX that I later upgraded to a 8800GT. thumb.gif

I think the best I managed on my 3800+ on water was 2.94. I had a good batch from what I remember. I even removed the IHS and chipped the core when mounting the waterblock. Thought my CPU was a goner....scary times for sure!

i was some of the lucky with my DFI 939 board =)

the opty i maxxed out at 3ghz on air, temps would start getting up there though so not practical during summer months.

Mostly sat at a 2.8ghz i think with stock voltage, ram was Golden chips too, running some of the lowest timings at 460-500mhz , had the 8800 GTS 640 mb for the x1050 resolution monitor i had been using (which worked otu really well since i played MMO's)

She was Far better than Early DDR2 Machines for a good while. didnt last very long and when I started playing Warhammer Online, 200 people on screen at once = not Happy PC.

So the i7 and GTX 275 has Done me VERY well since then

Im actually at stock on my i7 right now, im ashamed that someone provided me with a template to run it at 3.8 but, recent refresh for the SSD wiped my bios, and I never actually learned how to overclock this. It is so Foreign to me, BCLK lol..


but before the opty 165, i did have a 3700 single core which I hit 3.1ghz with, stock Coolers =) Think I was running 7800 GT at the time.

Got caught trying to take a picture of a nuclear weapons drill once on the hangar deck. It was NOT a pleasant experience.
