Boot issues after upgrade

Alright I can't figure out what my problem is. I upgraded my mb so I could get a pci-e vid card and get away from agp, so I can get better power for playing FEAR. I got a BFG NForce4 ultra mb and a GeForce 79010gs vid card. Also got a new power supply that supported the 24 pin power connector. After the upgrade i cannot boot into Vista, which has FEAR installed on it. I can select it from the boot screen, but nothing loads and it just reboots. I could boot into XP no problem, it just booted in and updated the drivers. I tried booting with the Vista dvd and repairing the install but it was a no go. Any ideas short of reinstalling? Anything i can do from within XP as I can access the Vista partition(second drive)? Any help is much appreciated.

After having changed the motherboard, you will need to 1) repair the installation using the windows cd/dvd or 2) reinstall the OS and game completely.

Motherboard swapping usually requires reinstallation, but sometimes the repair will do the trick.

Xavier1421 nailed it. Switching out motherboards in most cases, as he said, will require a clean install of the operating system. Considering how new Vista is, it does not suprise me at all that you were not able to boot it up. You can use Windows XP to access you Vista partion however. Just go into My computer, and open up the partition. I do this all the time, as I also dual boot XP/Vista.

Yes I can access it from XP but is there anything I can do to load drivers and such to Vista from within XP? I'll reload if need be but just looking for a way around it if possible.

Im afraid you will have to do a repair Instalation. This is good as your own personal docs should still be there. Howeve if you are unluky you will have to do a full Format and Reinstall
