Pico Psu?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, so i been looking around at pico psu's and came across this 160 watt one. They have AC-DC power supplies but from what i can figure out it seems that they dont have any that can support the full 160 watts (since the others are 4 pin AC-DC)?

Also are there any other similar pico psu's with higher wattage? Just wondering tongue.gif

Thanks for the help!

On the exact same page you have a section called related products, where a variety of compatible bricks are listed, including a 16A one, which should be plenty for the picoPSU-160-XT.

Thanks man!

If you need more watts I think you could run 2 in parallel with one of these
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11742/cpa-167a/ModRight_CableRight_Dual_Power_Supply_Adapter_Cable.html?tl=g2c413s1513
Only catch is bigger plug pack and wouldn't power your mobo from the slave PSU, only other stuff.

hmmm didnt think of that i wonder if that would work hmmmm (probably have to use a 4 pin y connector to connect the 2 psu to the 192 watt power pack? or something like that) tongue.gif Thanks for the input! +reps

well my goal is to run a i3 (maybe i3 " T " variant) or sandy pentium, along with a gts 650 or gtx 660 (non ti) off of the pico psu. The power draw of the nvidia 6 series seems pretty low, but wont know actual power draw until they are released frown.gif . buuuttt guestimating i would think i could maybe run a i3 "T" and a gtx 650/660 off of ~160-200 watts since the 670 is somewhere around 150 watts from what ive read, i would think that one of the lower 6 series versions are around 90-120 watts redface.gif although i might be wishfully thinking

in the past ive used a 2 molex -> 6 pin adaptor for cpu/gpu applications with no issues, but could a single molex -> 6 pin be fine to run a gpu off of?

Best be checking your actual watts per voltage on your psu because your VGA and CPU mostly use 12v and if the psu is 80w at 5v + 80w at 12v your not going to run much of it.
no reason you couldn't chain 4 of these together though. or a better option maybe to get a 12v regulator and smooth the **** out of the input 12v. then run that through a transistor that switches on with the psu. not sure if that would work at all though, as Ive never tried. Maybe a full blown micro form factor psu is a better idea if you really want graphics?
