So I'm one of those people that have to deal with highly populated area's and alot of wifi interferance and it is Starting to get annoying, Don't get me wrong i've never had issues playing on wireless G or N till the last few weeks when alot more networks started popping up and during peak our times i'm getting alot of spikes, Fine for web browsing but gaming not so much.

I saw one of our OCN members wanting to sell his/her homeplugs i think it was 3930k, however thats a differant story for a differant thread, So i started doing a bit of research, and i've found a nice deal on NP504's from netgear, The question is, does anyone here have experience with them? and if so how has that experience been?

Given i constantly upload things to youtube overnight and it will also be used in tandem with my NAS How well do you think these will hold up against constant usage, They won't exactly be getting alot of rest, I know my wireless N router has alot of issues after i've thrashed it for 10 hours or longer, Likely due to heat.


I've got the fastest connection i can get here, 24mbit/1mbit and the exchange is right outside so i get full throughput (IF i'm cabled to the modem router, over wireless i only get up to 18mbit due to interferance) I should see improvement right?


Example is

Modemrouter>wireless>ME = max download speed 1.7mb/second
modemrouter>cable>Me max download = 2.4mb/second
So i'm hoping
Modemrouter>homeplug>homeplug>ME= 2.4mb/second

Ive had mine going solid since that review - my modem / router is rarely off. No dramas / issues to report on that front.

You should see an improvement but keep in mind, its not designed to increase speeds that where not there in the first place. smile.gif

I am honestly kicking myself for not finding these things earlier... they are that good.

totaly ordering my pair then, Granted my modem and sigrig are on differant circuts, my house is using brand new wiring and people say that doesn't matter.

The plugs need a connection in the wiring to work.

I cant say for sure with wiring in the US. I know here that it works with any socket in my home and I have 3 diferent circuits.

Like I mentioned, they self-discover. So you plug it in downstairs, for example, and plug the other on in elsewhere and if the "circuit complete" light goes on, your in business.

They just have to be on the same phase. Each home has 2 120v lines at opposite phases. the need to be on the same 120v source

theoretically they all meet at your fuse box anyways, so it will probably transfer over, can only try them and find out.
