suspend CPU on network use?

i'm trying to come up with a way to suspend boinc CPU use on my server computer when it's serving. as far as i know this isn't possible with boinc preferences. maybe i could have a script running that detects network use and simulates a key click. what would be the best way to do it? thanks

Or you could try setting the CPU to run only while the CPU usage is less than say 50 or 75%, instead of the default 25%. I'm don't know a more direct way though.
