Prime95 Question

Thread Starter
I ran Prime for 12 hours on a 4.5Ghz OC on my 3770k, everything was successful. About 4 hours later my computer froze and would not recover. I assume there is a high likelihood that my OC is not stable although not necessarily..

Here's my question

I'd like to run Prime again for 12 more hours.... pause it, do my homework etc.... then allow it to run again. Is taking a break in your Prime run okay? I'd like to complete a full 24hours.

Thanks

Taking a break should be fine as far as stability goes, if you insist on running it for 24 hours.

I do, mainly because of the computer freeze. It's never done that, or I should say hasn't in the past few months since I've built it.

I always have massive prolems if i pause it. It never seems to restart for me. Also, your idle voltage might be too low which is why it crashes at the desktop, and not in p95. Try upping you voltage and lowering your llc if needed.

As long as it doesn't regularly freeze and can get through the 12 hour Prime95 run, I would consider it stable.

It actually just froze again and I got blue screen. I upped the cpu offset voltage +.005... This is my first time OCing, does that sound like a step in the right direction?

I'd like to think I've done my homework as far as OCing, but I still feel like I'm floating in the wind so to speak sometimes. What I should have said was I've upped my cpu offset voltage an additional .005
