Big Typhoon vs stock AMD heatsink - Page 2

BT all the way! Upgradalbe, Is truely DEAD SILENT, anyone who owns one can vouch for that, like I! And the BT Is cheaper than the infinity. I vote BT all the way! Especially the new VX, why?

-easier to mount,
-better stock fan while still staying truely silent
-easily upgradable in manny ways

The BT is the master of air coolers, IMO. The BT is so quiet, I can hear my other fans over it, and the rig is almost silent! I put my finger on one of my case fans, it gets to absolute silence!
BT + Side Air Duct = Superb air cooling!

Friend of my have the Scythe Infinity and i have the Big TT VX, and we has them tested about 2 week ago, the result are the same.
My temp Idle-29c and fully load -52c with OC from 2.2-2.7ghz and 1.35v-1.55v. I think my temp are very low, cuz i live in VEGAS! lol
and my VX is quieter even the fan speed on MAX.
so you tell me which one is better?

The above link shows the Scythe Ninja against the BT, the Infinity beats out the Ninja by about 1C-2C

So... Infinity>BT

Is 1-2c really that big of a difference? I mean maybe just for bragging rights? Or "hardcore" people? Plus if you get a different fan... Then the variables change so we will never know who is better. Just your personal prefence and how much you wanna spend right?

A lapped big typhoon is pretty much dead tied with the Tuniq tower. The only reason the Big Typhoon isn't still top dog, IMO, is that Thermaltake leaves it with a crap contact surface.

1C-2C is a lot, especially when you add the 3C the Ninja has over the BT

That is enough to raise the vcore by another .05-.075 on my opty and get a higher OC

An Infinity with a billion heatpipes also cools better than a lapped BT

Without an modifications to anything, the Scythe is better and any mod done on the BT could also be done on the Infinity

Some have actually aatached copper ramsinks using the arctic epoxy, and it can give you a few extra degreese lower load temps. And of course up grading the fan to any 120mm fan you wish.

You cant add anymkore fins to it like you can to the base of the cooler liek you can a BT It already has fins, but they are aluminum, not copper!

I said that to show that any mod done to the BT while not performing the same mod on the Infinity is pointless. You're here to compare the 2, not give only on an advantage.

It's like all the people who compared a 3ghz K8 to a stock E6600 and claimed AMD still kept the performance crown
