Hello I am looking at graphics cards for my PC since I don't want to game on the Intel HD graphics. I was hoping you wise over clock members could make some suggestions=) I am looking to spend in the neighborhood of 200 dollars for a card. I will be playing games like battlefield 3, starcraft andhopefully crysis 3 when it comes out. My current monitor maxes out at 1440x900 at 60hz, however, if I can find a combo deal with a 1080p monitor for around 400 dollars I can swing the extra money. My specs should be in my signature=) thanks in advance. By the way, if you guys think there is a better time of the year in which to buy video cards (Xmas maybe?) Please do tell, I can wait some time if I must, I'll just keep playing on an Xbox till then=)

Specs are 3570k, hyper 212+, 8 gigs corsair vengeance cl9 1600, as rock z77 extreme4, corsair tx750 v2, Seagate barracuda 7200 500gb x4, and I have an arc midi so I can take long graphics cards if I get rid of the top hdd tray

If you could swing the 400 dollars, I'd skip the monitor for now and go with a GTX 670. Get the monitor later after you've saved up more.

BTW, your rig isn't in your sig. You should get it on there so we can check stuff like your power supply before we (I) steer you in the wrong direction.

6870s dropped in price recently, I personally still think its a very capable card, and it would ease by at your current resolution. Alternatively might consider the 7870, not sure how much it is in dollars though.

The GTX 480 can be found for about $200. Your power supply probably can't handle it, though.

This ^^^^^^^

No sense getting a weaker card then upgrading the monitor. You'll be looking to upgrade the card later if you do.

I would say 480(lots of power usage and heat output), 7870 if you can find one cheap. But for a new card the 7850 is the best in that price range, it's a bit over your budget but a great card. Something like these

For the most part these cards(7 series) overclock awesome and don't use tons of energy.

My power supply is 750 watts by the way, and yeah I think the 7850 is the most expensive card I'd buy at the moment since my monitor isn't all that high Res. Lately I've been using it at 1024 with widescreen and that goes up to 74 Hz if that makes any difference. Do you think I could handle 460s in sli? I'd prefer a low power card but my case is really well ventilated so I can handle a bit of extra heat. Do any of you play battlefield 3 maxed out? What card do you use? Thanks guys his is really helpful=)

If you go SLI now, you're done.

Better to get one powerful card now and then have room for another later.

Lots of 7870 ghz cards for under $300 on the egg.

I always prefer to keep a single card. I would just go with the 7850. You can overclock it to 580 speeds (if you change the voltage of course.) It all depends on if the card you get is good or bad, but just my 2cents.gif
