I have AfterBurner showing me GPU details as I play, and what usually happens is my card is chugging along at 810MHz at 60fps (50-60% usage) and it will drop to 10fps (10% usage) and finally to 2fps (0% usage). The clocks then fluctuate between 810MHz and 250MHz.

GPU-Z says atiumdag 8.961.0.0. Not sure what that means.

Thats the driver version of your card. Try reverting back to older drivers under which you did not come across such fluctuation in gpu clocks and usage. What are your GPU temps at 100% load? Try using MSI kombuster to stress test your card.

That would be ATi Catalyst driver version 12.4

Driver version 12.6 is out now, so you could try that or alternatively do as Jason suggested and try an older revision driver. If memory serves me correctly the first official Catalyst driver to support the 6850 was version 10.12. Personally that's were I would start and go from there.

Temps are 65*C at full load. Also, I went ahead and installed 12.6, so I'll see if that makes a difference.

Yeah never enable PhysX. It takes your fps really low!. That's why i suggested you try using a gpu burn in test cause that would lead me to telling you that it's with your game. Oh and by the way Boinz, have you overclocked your 5770?
