Some keys randomly stop working.

Thread Starter
I would be playing Tribes or Assassins Creed, and all of a sudden one of my "w,a,s,d" keys get stuck and I keep moving. This first happened when i was playing Tribes and the Spotify music player randomly started up playing the first 0.1 second of a song repeatedly. Once that happened, one of my keys stopped working. I opened up notepad and that key would not work.

I have had this issue 4 times now, and one of the time i open up notepad, once it would spam that key, the other times it would just not work. I would hit the key several times, and nothing while the other keys work. This happened again last night where 'd' was stuck, so I alt tabbed and spammed several keys in notepad including caps lock, then all of a sudden i could type 'd' but not o , and capslock was stuck.

Resetting the computer does fix the issue. Unplugging and re-plugging in the keyboard does not work. Unloading \ Re-Loading the keyboard trough Device Manager doesn't work. This has only been happening for a month or 2.

The keyboard is a Razer Lycosa about 1-2 years old.

Any idea what this could be? I'm a bit paranoid that this is a key logger.

It couldnt be an issue with it being clean or anything since restarting the computer fixes the issue, This must be software \ driver related.

Key logger?

Have you been on Geekhack.org lately? Hah, I keed.

Try USB/PS2 ports and digging around for obnoxious custom logiSetpoint type drivers.

What you described seems to be a common issue with the lycosa, i'm afraid. You could ask for a RMA.

Yeah, it seems you are right. I guess I should start looking for a new keyboard. I like back-lit keys, but i wasn't too happy with the way they did it. With the back-lit off, its hard to see what the keys were.

Yeah, $120 is a bit pricey for a keyboard to me. $80 is probably the most i would spend. I like the blue back-lit keyboards, the problem that the Lycosa had, was that when the back-lit was off, it was hard to see what the keys were.

Id like to try out a mechanical keyboard, but i would hate to spend $100 for something I don't like.
