If you're savvy you can always try compiling an updated installer with all of the required drivers for your rig.

You've probably already tried this but did you double check the md5

Try this...at the login screen hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 it should drop you into TTY1(GUI-less terminal) which you can then login from. After logging in then "sudo apt-get install" the packages you need. If you had an internet connection during the install it should have fetched the packages but sometimes it doesn't. After installing reboot just in case and see how things go.

Never compiled an installer for Linux before, but I could definitely try that! Checking the install .iso again was the next thing to do.

Will try these when I get a chance! Thanks!

By login screen, do you mean the first screen I get to when its asking for whether I want to live boot or install ubuntu? Otherwise I don't ever get a login screen as I didn't install Ubuntu yet. This happens right when the Ubuntu installer comes up to install Ubuntu on my Hard Drive.

Big question...why are you using a 32bit version on a system with 8GBs of RAM? To be honest...the last 32bit of a buntu I tried to use actually had a similar issue in that it created a bunch of graphical glitches...but that was years ago so it's probably coincidence.

I think this is probably due to your very new GPU and 32 bit software. I'd try 64 bit if i were you.

If neither of these work, I think you can download an alternative version of ubuntu that lets you install in text-only mode.

Starting to think it might be an Ivy-Bridge GPU/mobo chipset related issue being that the drivers might not be included in the kernel. I think going the GUI free install might be the only solution unless you can find a more up to date kernel.

After browsing some forum posts, it definitely seems to be the case that this version of ubuntu doesn't have the drivers for the new Intel HD Graphics. I found a post saying the same thing, to try the text based installer as well as using apt-get to get latest drivers. I will try both thank you!

Isn't it?! When I saw it, I was like oh no! Then I tried looking up to see if someone had a similar problem and couldn't find anything. Then the members of OCN came to help as per usual! OCN is awesome and the community is extremely helpful!

Thanks again for all of the suggestions guys! I will try this and update everyone!

In linux, 32bit programs run just fine with the 64bit linux kernel. If your ever so paranoid you can also do a 32bit chroot where everything works it just takes up a ton of space. That was the original solution, now it's moving towards a complete multi-lib, so 32bit programs and libraries install side by side with 64bit ones.
