Build help (budget) - Page 4

That is almost twice as much as the 3700+, if you can afford to go outside the budget while keeping Chozart build intact then you should go for it

You don't need ECC RAM

I would avoid open box motherboards, I don't trust them

Throwing in my 2 cents:

Go AMD: usually more bang for your buck for a budget build
Don't go dual-core; You can't afford it (170+ in Canada just for the processor)
Get a Socket 939 board so you can reuse that RAM you have (it's DDR, right?)

try:

(Dont' have time to add more, sorry)

theres always this x2 3800+ for 155$...
or ncix has an opened box 4200 x2 for 200$ if i spend 110 on the mobo, use my current ddr500 extreme, sell my 7800 for 100-130$cdn (too low?) and a 70-100$ PSU. that should keep me around 400$ with a dual core. i appreciate all your help, i like intel, but i know, especially now, AMD is you bang for your buck, and thats what i want, best performance over my 3.0 pressy for the best buck

hows this mobo? OCN sale Biostar GeForce M-9 939 40$us

The 4200+x2 and the 3800+x2 use the same core so you can expect similar results from them, they all OC to about 2.6 (most maxing out there) but you may get lucky get higher.

$100-$130 is a little low for the 7800GS. See if you can get $150-$175 for it
