Try to power up another system with that Seasonic, if you are still having issues just RMA it.

my Cosair 430 watt system builder runs my rig before I bought my 700 watt... it sounds like the PSU is just gone!

Your computer isn't dead. Just might be a small problem. Not everything is exploded or something. Anyways, yeah it can short out when you press the power button. Happened to my Seasonic x750 awhile back and I replaced it and works fine now. It just happens. Did you try the paperclip test?

Phaedrus' PSUCalc program (the resident ocn psu guru) calcualtes the build WITH the 570 installed as only needing 500 watts

So you are golden, if the psu will work it has enough power for the system

Double checked all the cables, especially 24pin ATX for the mobo & 8 pin EPS for the cpu? If not that, you mentioned a new cpu cooler, might want to pull it & make sure the cpu is all seated right, that you got good contact last time, & reinstall it.

it powers up fine, boots, but no post. everything powers up. cpu fan, hdd, ssd, gpu (in the case and then it still powers up without the gpu)?

Just to make you feel better, I lost a brand new OCZ ZT-550w and my barely used antec backup unit last month. both worked less than 2 hours and have the same problem. The next day when I tried to start my pc, no response.

The problem seems to be the electricity service. A surge protector does the magic to me.
