Alright, you see the mod is recommended to be used under 1.0.4, I think your steam copy comes with version 1.0.7, in which case it should still work, however with some issues (red sky etc). There are ways to downgrade your version to 1.0.4 if you do a google search, or read through this thread I think someone's posted a link with instructions.
I'm using a retail copy so I didn't have to mess around much, just installed the game, installed 1.0.4.0 title update, and installed the mod. Only issue I had was the game crashing on startup, but that was because I had MSI AB running
