Good to hear. I had a member from the evga forums clear this up for me but he warned that the current bios are still not perfect for running for dimms.

I'm keeping most of funds for my gpu upgrade so I'll stick with z77. If anything, I really don't need 16gb of ram so I can sell it and pick up some cheap kit for now. thumb.gif

This is what I discovered and what worries me. Again, the board for the price is and my needs for my gpu upgrade make sense. I can always change my ram for something else.

Double post apologies redface.gif

She came in today wheee.gif. I had a question about powering the Z77 for the extra pcie lanes. I know I'm suppose to plug in the bottom 6-pin for three way sli/crossfire but I'm going to run quad. I read some reviews and they site both 6-pins must be connected for 4-way. When i was running my old board, I couldn't use an adapter (molex to 6-pin). I eventually used the 4th pcie cable included with my psu. Now, I'm going to use all four pcie power harness from my psu so I'm concerned about how to power the rest of the mb's pcie lanes with an adapter. The forum hasn't replied to my question so I'm wondering if anyone has any susgestions.

A few clarifications:

-I blew all my money on my gpu upgrade so I can't upgrade my psu yet.
-I may not have room for a huge psu like the ST1500/CM 1.5kw or Ax1200
-I can't use a second psu or booster due to space constraints (like mentioned above).

+1 for any info.

I should be getting a few of my gpu(s) in this week.

Im getting nuts!

My Z77 FTW doesnt seems to like sleep mode... every time I'm waking it up from sleep, the screen wont wake to, and after about 20 seconds my pc shutdowns then re-opens itself and does that a couple of time before shuting off completly...

I've updated the bios to 1.12, I've unplugged everything exept my harddrive, I've installed windows 7 on another drive and all of this doesnt work. It was working fine with my Maximus V gene....

Should I RMA it ? Is there a solution? Thanks!

I've heard that that is a problem with the RAM. If it is clocked too high, it does that.

You could always call EVGA support and have them assess the situation.

But my memory is only set @1600Mhz... Oh well I'll have to contact them.

I had the same issue with my first Z77 and i recalled this happened with my old Asus p67 boards last year. The fix is to enable or disabled pll overvoltage. If its enable, disable it or vice versa. This helped me wake from sleep mode.

What are you running on your cpu?

Let us know that happens thumb.gif

Let the problems start!

-usb 3.0 constantly disconnects my odd. Had to plug it into the 2.0 to make it work properly. I did downloaded the usb 3.0 drivers from evga first.
-Seems to hang on the EVGA logo when rebooting.
-mb led temp readout isoff (common issue)

-I'm on the newest drivers 1.12. Any one have a better bios version suggestion?

At least the bios update is working for me in windows smile.gif

Not a promising start rolleyes.gif

edit: After spending several hours trying different bios and reinstalling drivers, I'm sending it back for another one. If I have the same crap, I'm going with the Sniper.3 Z77. Amazon has a great return policy, though if the second one gets returned, they automatically refund you so this will be my last Z77 FTW. Most annoying thing is that all the usb ports, especially the 3.0 are intermittent. Also, it tends to get stuck on the evga screen when restarting or booting up.

On a lighter note, the onboard igpu is pretty good. I have a spare mini-dp to dvi adapter that I used and it was a breeze to get going. I know a lot of the reviews scolded EVGA for this connection but I don't since it frees up the i/o panel for some additional stuff. The Sniper.3 has an hdmi, dvi, and vga which is taking away from more connections. Kudos eVGA thumb.gif

If you read some of the customer reviews, the situation is bad enough ppl are calling it Failed To Win rolleyes.gif

For those struggling with the EVGA and can return this for a full refund, consider the Gigabyte Sniper3 Z77.

I got mine for ~$220 (refurb). Installed it, fired it up, plugged in my external dvd-rw, ran the driver disk, reboot, all is well smile.gif. I have yet to oc but so far its been super easy, super smooth, and headache free. I'm still on the factory loaded bios but I'll get to that later on. Everything loaded properly including my usb 3.0 external odd and my second ssd.

The EVGA is going back to amazon. I have lost a lot of respect for EVGA as their current crop of LGA 1155 and LGA 2011 motherboards fall short, significantly.

Best of luck to you all who are sticking with the EVGA Z77 FTW.

Yeah, I sold mine and will probably pick up the sniper 3 soon. This board isn't really that flawed, but its lack of power saving features makes it better suited to a LN2 OC board or something like that.

I've yet to test mine out, but when I do that's exactly what I'll be doing with it.  When I finally get around to using this board with LN2 I'll be sure to post some results and feedback here.
