Hey OCN!

Ive got a question for you guys, as the title states: 570 or 670?
Im a Gamer, and will probably start Folding soon. I play WoW, some BF3 ( not much actually, despite it being my avatar), ARMA 2, Might get Mount & Blade: Warband soon, COD4. School work, during the school year.

Im down to two choices, but would like your opinion:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125423&Tpk=gigabyte%20670 - Gigabyte 670
OR
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0373304 - EVGA 2.5GB 570

Im really looking for just a kick-butt card but really dont want to spend a WHOLE LOT of money. Seriously, im just 16. Shouldnt be spending this much anyway >.< First paycheck doesnt come until this Friday.

Im really leaning to the 570 because its got an extra .5gb vram ( yeah so much) and according to MC it only needs two 6 pin connectors, which is all I have, but I am concerned about the heat and such. Also like MC better because theyre closeby and I think somewhat near the way of my drive home from work.

Also might be able to get a 570 a bit cheaper from a friend.

The 670 is a better all around card (not to say the 570 is bad), and it will be fairly future proof assuming that is what you are going for. If you have the money go with the 670.

For only an extra 70$ you can get a card that is a heck of a lot faster. Once overclocked your looking at a huge difference in performance here. wink.gif

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/598?vs=518

670 isnt even overclocked in these tests either. Get what you can afford though. But I say go with the 670. A lot more future proof.

One of the main things that gos through my head is: "Do I REALLY need that extra fps? How much extra fps is the 670 going to have over the 570?"

The .5gb of VRAM isn't going to make up for the fact that the GTX 670's architecture is just plain better, it will outperform the 570.

If you don't want to spend so much on a GTX 670, but want something better than a GTX 570, you should consider getting a 7870
(maybe a 7950 if the price is right, otw you could be close to 670 pricing anyway).

If you are after a kick butt card for not a whole lot of money then I would consider also looking at the Radeon cards, a 7950 falls just short of 670 performance and kills the 570, it also has 3gb VRAM as standard. $309.99 after rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127667. It's the best price to performance card you can buy. If you are buying nvidia then I suggest the cheapest 670 you can find.

Forget the 570 unless you want to be cheap. And even if you want a 7850 would be better once overclocked and has more vram...
I'd go for any of these: 7850 - 7870/7950 - gtx670 (or wait for a gtx660ti lol)

*Also there's an insane deal at Tigerdirect!
You get a 7970 reference (Visiontek) and 6 pc games for 360usd (grab that one and call it a day!)*

Good luck!
The gtx 670 is going to out perform the gtx 570 in every senario.

The vram does mean anything whatsoever. Vram does not equal horsepower. Unless you are using triple 1600p monitors you have zero need for anything above 2gb. You aren't going to see any difference in benchmarks between a 1.2gb gtx 570 and a 2.5gb gtx 570. By the time that extra vram will do anything you won't have enough gpu power.

If price is not an issue, go with the gtx 670 it is a much better card.

Hmm...Still not 100% decided ( I know, im Stubborn LOL). Its just quite expensive for FPS and power I might not really need. I also have to decide which 670 besides the gigabyte I want ( Probably an evga) since Gigabyte is out of stock.
