hi,
I have an HP Pavilion G6, specifically, the HP Pavilion g6-1224sa.
I have had it since November 2011.
Here are it's specs:
AMD A4 3300M APU
AMD Radeon 6480G
6GB DDR3 1333MHz
500GB HDD
I was wondering if it is ever worth changing the thermal paste on the CPU.
I'm currently running Prime 95 to see temperatures, and I'm getting maximum's of 78 on both cores.
I understand that Laptop components can tolerate much higher temperatures, but I was wondering weather I would see a significant improvement by replacing the TIM with Noctua NT-H1.
Has anyone had any experience with changing laptop thermal compound?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT:
Might as well combine this question:
I recently discovered that my CPU is upgrade-able.
Unfortunately it is very expensive to do so, I can get the A6 3400M direct from HP for £188.15
The A8 is currently unavailable.
Does anyone have any experience with changing Laptop CPU's, and would it be worth it?
Things to consider:
I would also be upgrading the GPU, as it is an APU.
I will (hopefully) be using this as my main computer for another 4 years when (if) I go to university.
Thanks again.
