Right now it all comes down to the money ... in that as soon as I get enough it will be tongue.gif
As a result I'll be folding in short, concentrated bursts, a large power bill is detrimental to saving towards a goal that will generate more savings.

I tried checking out solar power as well, however the home built systems seem to be a big investment. I am a do-it-yourself kind of guy, and it seems that I would have to have a quad-zillion panels in order to do anything productive with it, and that is also not mentioning the battery bank I would have to build for cloudy days. It is still something that interests me, but I am currently researching stuff on a much smaller scale right now. All the conversions from DC to AC also cause efficiency loss. In general it requires a lot more planning than I had initially anticipated. Good luck with your system though, and please, if you get something up and running, share the results with us!

This is what I was talking about, ready to be filled up with blades (all it's missing is a network switch, but a gigabit blade switch shouldn't be too hard to come by). If you can get an enclosure full of G1 BL460s though, go get a pallet of 3.33ghz quad cores (highest bin the device will support) and put two per blade. That goldfish will do quite a bit of crunching.

Some places, especially Houston, make investing in solar power a bit less painful given all the credits you can get (Oncor 2$/watt rebate, Green Moutain Power 100% power buyback up to 500kw, federal tax credits).
