Long story...
I have mastering studio built from the cement up in my garage. (HVAC, double studded walls with green glue, plenty of absorption with custom wall panels). While my studio is quiet (measured at around 26dB with computer off) , my computer can still be heard... and its annoying to me. I already swapped out my noisy psu (Corsair 650TX - fan controller was stuck on full) for an AX750 (which is dead silent since I NEVER pull more than 350 from the wall). I've soft mounted my harddrives, but I still hear noise. I know my GPU is making some noise, which is acceptable at this point (same with the 4 harddrives in my case, soon to remove 3 of them and replace them with 2 quieter versions)
I want to see if I swap my H60 for the Macho is I can keep the same temps (My 2600k OC'd to 4.4) but reduce the noise by 6db by eliminating the pump, and 1 fan.
Right now my system is running the H60. I wanted to see for myself if I can get my pc any quieter.
Right now in a Fractal Design Define R3.
Corsair Modular PSU (AX750)
H60 cooler
MSI 560 GTX (non-twin frozr)
4 Scythe Gentle Typhoons - 2x AP-14s in a push/pull on the radiator mounted using fan shrouds on both sides. (Yes, this push pull config is insane, but in order to have quiet fans on a radiator, a shroud is a must). 2x AP-13s as exhaust fans
1 Fractal Design Quiet fan (mounted with a shroud on the side for intake).
Air flow works like this in my case.
GT14>shroud>back of case>radiator>shroud>GT14. The the GT13's are mounted on the front of the case acting as exhaust fans.
1 Fractal Design Quiet fan (mounted with a shroud on the side for intake) This allows my cpu and GPU to be cooled by the coldest air while all the hot air is exhuasted over the drives in the front, which can take more abuse as long as there is air flow.

Here is a screeny of my H60 (using MX-2) cooling my 2600k @ 4.4 Ghz (using offset voltage of +.05). Ran IBT 5 times at very high.

Here is a screeny of my Thermalright Macho (using MX-2) cooling my 2600k @ 4.4 Ghz (using offset voltage of +.05). Ran IBT 5 times at very high.

Sad to say... the H60 cools better by 5 degrees.
