artifacts on gts 450

Im getting artifacts on my gts 450, the lines are on boot, in windows. Now, windows wont recognize the card whatsoever. I updated the drivers, and everything, tried other cards in my computer, even multiple cards didnt work. Can I just bake the card? I had to do so for my 8800 gtx when it was getting artifacts. Post a possible solution?

If multiple cards didn't work, I doubt something's wrong with the cards. Baking won't help an already working card

Maybe something is wrong with the PCIe slot?

got you on that one, I checked the PCI-e slots (i have three) and i used another motherboard, same problems. So i know its the card.
[EDIT] I moved the heatsink around a bit when the card was running in the PC, and the artifacts went away, it started to recognize the card and install drivers, but it came up with a crash when it was almost done. I tried again, same artifacts, and i moved the heatsink more, but they didnt go away this time around.

Yep, artifacts on boot = hardware failure. Updating drivers won't help if it's malfunctioning before the OS and drivers are even loaded.

A 450 couldn't be more than a year and a half old, so you should still be covered by your manufacturer's warranty. Don't bake it unless you have no other options.
