I would recommend the Samsung 30nm "Wonder RAM" over the Corsair memory. It is ridiculously small and everybody talks of it overclocking from 1600mhz to 2400mhz easily. I use it myself, actually.

keep hearing about these

Is it because they're 30nm process? The price issue is no longer existent, Corsair Vengeance LP in Blue or black (1.5V) is $43-45 while the Samsung RAM is $45

Newegg lists default timings as
Timing 11-11-11-28 with Cas Latency 11
* 2080Mhz, 9-9-9-27 attainable according to http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Samsung/MV-3V4G3/7.html

What makes them better than Corsair Vengeance LP (especially the white 1.35V one)?

Corsair Vengeance LP ($50):
Timing 9-9-9-24 with Cas Latency 9
