About the IGP fiability

Thread Starter
I am playing games with the IGP from my 3770k for about 2 months. And i have a question. There is a chance for my IGP to lose power some how, i mean to get weaker and weaker, or the CPU to get slower because i am using the IGP for that long and stressed it in games ?

That shouldn't happen. It's there with the intent of people using it.

It's designed to be used like that, so no, it won't make your CPU slower unless you're overclocking your CPU to high extremes.
No,that won't happen, especially on stock settings,so no worries. You may keep gaming on your IGP as much as you want...

Only way to get some possible degradation of the CPU performance would be to run a very heavy OC for extended time periods...

No, i am not doing that, very heavy OC. I am forced to play on the IPG because in my country there isn't yet a 680 Lightning, so i have to wait for that card a couple more weeks. And i was wondering, playing games (that meant to be played on GPU's), with my IGP could some how degrade in time my IGP or CPU performance.

Thanks for the relief. smile.gif

Unless you've overclocked both the CPU and iGPU to a point where they'll mutually destroy each other due to overheating, it shouldn't be a problem (since you're not, it should be fine). Meaning, only if you're hitting thermal limits with both the CPU + GPU they will downclock to protect themselves. Because they're on the same die the heat may add up fast, however going by the CPU (and GPUs in actual graphics cards) maximum thermal limits you may never see the iGPU downclock as long as it's properly cooled.

Hope you get that 680 Lightning when it's released in your country, that card looks awesome.
