They are but the question is if they can also serve as a 3 pin fan header and hence provide voltage regulation. From my experience not all 4 pin fan headers can control a 3 pin fan. The fan would be running at 12 V no matter how your fan profile in the BIOS looks like.

Meanwhile I have a new build based on an Asus P8Z77-I deluxe and again the fan control supports PWM only.
In that build all fans I wish to use come with a 3 pin connector. We all know what that means, no fan speed control via software or BIOS. Luckily Phanteks provided a PWM to 3 pin adapter for the two fans that came with the cooler which converts the PWM signal into the equivalent in voltage. For the front case fan (Bitfenix Spectre Pro 230) which I want to hook up to another fan hearder I am expecting a Nanoxia PWMX Control Module from Germany soon to get the problem fixed.
But that control module sells at 9.90 € plus 8.00 € international shipping and maybe not everybody would like to go shopping and spend the extra money. This is why I was wondering if the EVGA Z77 was going to be any different in regard to that issue.

Asus isn't PWM only..their software offers full voltage control for non-PWM fans...Used AP-15s for mine 100% controlled from the UEFI...

+1, I've got all my fans controlled by my P8Z77-M PRO, and only 1 is a 4-pin.

I think I did not claim that Asus in general does not support 3 pin fans any more. But both my P67 Sabertooth and the P8Z77-I deluxe do not control 3 pin fans when hooked up to a 4 pin fan header. For the Sabertooth I have to admit that it also has at least one 3 pin fan header which allows for fan speed control. But that's it. And the P8Z77-I deluxe has only two 4 pin headers (CPU and case) which are both PWM only.

I had defined profiles both in the UEFI and in Windows (Asus Fan Xpert). The 3 pin fans kept on running at 12 V. Once the Phanteks PWM adaptor was in place I could clearly hear and see the difference. But I am glad that you guys did not have any problems with your mainboards whatsoever.

I have attached two pictures from Fan Xpert, 1st picture shows on the right hand side that I was able to perform a test on the CPU Fan which is a PWM controlled fan and the 2nd picture shows that Fan Xpert does not allow to perform a test on the Chassis Fan which is a 3 pin fan.

And I had actually just asked if EVGA can confirm that their Mini-ITX board would allow me to control 3 pin fans. But that doesn't matter anymore. Obviously I didn't have the patience to wait for the EVGA Z77 anymore.

I think we are good.

Hardware Rep.

i want to know the measurments(distance) of the holes in the PWM area and Northbridge area .

does watercooling this board with some Z68 blocks will work ? or if Z77 existed?
