Excessive DPC latency is mainly caused by generally bad ethernet drivers, and in some cases audio drivers. (For example, I run custom drivers for my Xonar DX to lower DPC latency.)
My system appears to by dying; one of the symptoms is excessive DPC latency too; during games it's not that bad but if I even have a slow download going or something similar (Or a fast download via Steam) then I end up literally getting DPC latencies over 1,000,000us (I'm not kidding) which manifests itself as a system wide pause.

Hai guys (and gals?)
I'm intopro audio so I need really, really, really, tremendously low DPC latency readings (because else it adds pops and crackles when recording, which is utterly non-desirable).

With an el cheapo passive 30$ graphic card I have a DPC latency between 5 and 9 µS.
However, with the GTX690 (I play a bit, too ^__^) it jumps up to something around 700 µS.
I noticed that when I changed something into the SLI parameters, for instance going from "3d performance" or "every monitor" to "sli disabled" it would get back to normal low values for 6, 7 seconds and then get up again, in whichever setting I end.

Also, disabling one of the two GPUs directly in the windows peripheral manager has the effect of cutting the dpc latency a bit, meaning the peaks are @ 400 µS.

Do you think it will be solved ? Because I'd like not to have to open my case to plug in the gTX690 every time I want to play...

TL:DR

Lower memory timings, disable C states/PWM Control, disable High Precision Event Timer

In my heaven test max DPC latency was 109, still tweaking before I post my final results. Before tweaking the things I mentioned I was getting 500-600 DPC latency

1600Mhz 8-8-8-21 1T has lower DPC latency than 2133 10-10-10-28 1T

Didn't know about memory timings but that makes sense, C States/PWM and HPET are known though, there's a great guide somewhere on Guru3D.

Well, for my part, the latest nvidia driver made the trick, when I disable the second GPU I get back to < 10µS DPC lat.
(everything you said, disabling the C States, etc... Was of course done since the very beginning smile.gif )

However, I'll give a shot to the RAM CAS latency, for now I'm at 1866 Mhz and 9 - 9 - 9 - 27 timings. I'm just afraid that my mobo (a poor man's ga-p67a-ud3p) won't allow me to change the timings too deeply...

Essentially a timer that never stops, I think because of the way it works it can cause a lot of latency while being a lot more precise than the former methods used such as the RTC (Real Time Clock)
