double shourt beep

Hi everyone,

this is my first post on here, after reading some interesting posts I decided to join. I have a small problem, got my sabertooth about 2 weeks ago. Installation went fine, (my setup: sabertooth 990fx MB, G-Skill Rip Jaw RAM - 16GB, Intel 330 series 120 GB SSD, (2) EVGA 280 GTX (in SLI) cards, Corsair HX1000 P/S. The cpu and the two gpu cards are water cooled (custom built with parts from Koolance) but I get 2 short beeps which occur only when the front panel audio is plugged in (same for the back panel). I use Sony headphones which worked fine in my previous build. Everything seems to work fine, sound, games. The beep comes from the motherboard and the headphones. Nothing in events viewer. I've been searching online for a fix but no luck. Has anyone heard of such a problem?

check and make sure you have the front panel plug into the non HD auido

OK, so I checked, everything looks ok, checked the manual, but there is only one connector on the mb, there is an option in bios to change to 'AC 97
(non HD I guess) which I tried but no luck.

update on m/b beeping; I disabled audio in bios, beeping stopped, tried it for a couple of days. Now, I decided to see if a sound card which I had laying around would work, so I put it in the pci express slot (one right below 2nd graphics card, I have 2 in sli), installed drivers, and about an hour later - boom, beeping started again. Sounds like it's related to audio, b/c soon as I've audio enabled the beep comes back. I'm at a loss now, really hope it's not the board, I've never seen anything like it before, and I've put together a few pc's. Guess I could call Asus, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

just realized something, the beep seems to occur at the top of the hour, for ex. 4:00 o'clock and so on. Any clues on a possible culprit? Might have to look into windows settings etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I know people have suggested rmaing the board .. but i have a willd time consuming thought.
Do you have a spare drive?
Do you know your motherboard settings ?
longshot ...
You could set defaults in bios.. boot to a backup drive and insttall a fresh install and see if that solves the problem .. then you know before wiping your new build.
I dont know about microsoft tos etc. but it seems reasonable if its a by the hour thing.. if you are sure ... It might be worth a shot.
Othewise it sounds like you dont have many options. but to rma the board.
Given the headaches of rma it might be worth a shot.
or better yet maybe change your system clock and see if it goes off when you think it will ... if it does then do the above to rule it out. or not. I certianly wont be offended and will prob get flamed for even suggesting it. rolleyes.gif

well a little rethinking .. can you open up windows and close any open programs or any processes that look suspect?
Im thinking back to Timer in irc .. but offhand i cant think of anyting that would cause two short beeps. unless its your watch.. :>
sorry trying to keep it light.
anyway good luck with your problem. trying to think way way outside of the box. Easy for me im kinda lost today.
