Hard data for PSU failure??? - Page 7

So I got my nice new XFX PSU today, and I found that it's true what they say about the weight of quality PSU's, it's a lot heavier than my other ones.

I can also see the benefit of modular cables now, too, this one comes with a huge spaghetti ball of cables which I had to stuff into empty HDD space to keep them out of the way!

Got to admit, though, it's not as quiet as my cheap ones which were pretty silent - something a lot of people seem to find with the XFX.

Wow.  So, the fan's louder even though it's basically powering an i3-2130 and an 8600 GT as the two most power-hungry parts of your system?

Or what is it powering?  You got the 650W modular XFX PSU right?

That's it, yeah.
It doesn't sound like it's broken, I don't think, no odd rattles or grating noises - just it's got a fairly pronounced whirr to it.
Not silent, but not hairdryer either.

Hope it's not a dud because I don't think the warranty would be transferable - I bought it as an 'unwanted gift'.

Which model is it exactly?  Perhaps someone here on OCN knows more about it and can say whether or not this is normal for it.
