Fill res to the top?

Thread Starter
I have 2 reservoirs, a 400mm cyclindrical FrozenQ one as seen here and also one of their cool bay reservoirs exactly like this in the front. Yes, two reservoirs because they look badass.

Anyway, I think my loop is mostly drained of air now except in the bay reservoir (highest reservoir)
I've tipped the PC upside down, shook it around and allover the place to find any excess air stuck anywhere multiple times now and it's been running a good few months like this, and i'm pretty sure the only air left is in the bay reservoir.

There's about 1.5CM of air in it, and when I turn my PC off, the water level doesn't go up one bit, should I fill this up to the top? Because i'm sure that I read somewhere you should leave some air in to account for compression or something.

Edit: Also, unrelated question, how much PHN Bioclear is too much for a loop like mine? (triple rad, single rad, cpu block, gpu block, both those reservoirs)
Is it even possible to use too much, will too much do anything bad?

The air is fine, and bio clear is just to keep algae from growing, too much and temps go up, i run distilled water without bioclear

The air may be fine, but is it also fine to fill it up to the top? It's mostly just annoying me aesthetically, I need to know if filling it to the top will be detrimental in any way. Also, I had no idea about the bioclear. I think I used about 10 drops of the stuff already. Crap. Should be fine though right with my amount of water?

Yeah that will do with a negligible difference in temperature, you can fill it to the top it wont hurt or help

I noticed the forum went down shortly after I posted this thread yesterday so I don't know how many people saw it.

Anyone else got anything to add or are we all in agreement?

I've never filled my res to the brim but I don't see why it'd be a problem, especially since you stated that when you turn the PC off, the water level doesn't change. On my machine, the water level in the res tends to rise a little when I turn off the PC.

I wouldn't worry about the Bioclear either. You should hold off on more drops though. wink.gif

I fill mine to the top just so it looks better. I don't like seeing the res with air in it.

Since it's been running for a long time already and the water level remains constant, it should be safe to fill it. You dont happen to have a fill tube attached to the res? There would still be air there even if you filled the res to the brim.
