Additionally, DayZ mod already works VERY well on Arma3 on their internal build. Rocket will also be developing a "standalone" complete conversion game of Arma3 for DayZ. This means that after Arma3 releases we can look forward to a standalone product released with the Arma3 engine for DayZ that is similar to the new invasion 1944 conversion they recently released of Arma2 for $30 on steam. So Rocket has garnered enough attention, and made Bohemia Interactive enough money, to justify giving him his own team to work on DayZ as a standalone zombie survival sim for Arma3 biggrin.gif! Additionally, due to the portability of the mod, his team can first develope everything on the Arma2 engine for us to test and THEN port it over to Arma3 for his standalone release of the Arma3 version product.

I been looking for the 45 minute interview with him on stage answering questions, but i never subscribed to the thread at dayzmod.com, so, haven't found it yet.

Edit: Watching the whole thing is what I recommend, but starting at around 5:00 minutes there is some awesome ideas Dean mentions that just make me not be able to wait for the final product- http://blip.tv/game-breaker/exclusive-dayz-creator-dean-rocket-hall-interview-6253489

Additional development can only do so much. DayZ is so flawed that can never reach a respectable level of polish unless it's rebuilt from the ground up. Most of that has to do with how crappy the ArmA 2 engine is.

Anyways, I love the gameplay and atmosphere of DayZ, but the lack of polish just cripples the experience for me, so I'm excited to see other developers take a stab at the same concept.

Fall this year.

he War Z describes itself as a “Survival Horror MMO that immerses players in a zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic world in which a viral outbreak has decimated the human population leaving, in its wake, a nightmare of epic proportion.” It’ll be available unbelievably soon: Fall 2012 for $30 (coincidentally, the same price of Arma 2: Combined Operations), and it won’t carry a subscription fee.

Hopefully they team up with Day Z devs...aka Rocket. The Day Z community is growing strong and I doubt people would play this WarZ game without some support from Rocket on the project.

Rocket has 500,000 followers on a game that has a ZERO DOLLAR advertising budget, why would he team up with anyone? Even if he sells his stand-alone for $10, he's a millionaire how many times over? Just saying.

This War Z is such a rip-off I'd be surprised if it reaches 500,000 sales with an A+ marketing campaign.

Played Arma 2 quite a bit. I hate that engine. I'll bite on OA when it goes for $5 despite wanting to play DayZ. Better engine for this or DayZ is a take my money deal.

As a fairly avid DayZ player, it would seem to me the competition can only be good.
There are a lot of things that aren't in DayZ(and likely never will) that people would be interested in. It seems this game might incorporate some of that.
As overstated as it is, the population surge really did destroy a lot of the fun in the game for people. Perhaps this game will force a little control in those areas so people can actually choose to have a decent Zombie sim.
