I've been wondering should I setup RAID my rig with 4x 3TB HDD for anything like project, recording, films, games; large files range from (10GB to 25GB). Some recording can use up 50GB.
Current setup:
- 1x 120GB SSD (OS + some large game (mmo/BF3) to load faster).
- 1x 3TB Primary storage as stated before.
- 1x 2TB Backup drive (backup from 3TB as copies)
- 1x 500GB temporary drive
Planning setup.
- 1x 120GB SSD (OS).
- 4x 3TB Primary Storage in RAID 10 / 01
- 1x 2TB bye
- 1x 500GB bye
I know RAID 10/01 has no real backup but the chance of getting a fail drive and replace will be long lasting to me. What I meant if 1 drive fail, I'll just replace it and keep it running ever and ever.
Now, is it ideal for me to invest about $450 for RAID 10 (6TB) setup in my purposes (not just gaming)?
