Wireless Internet

Thread Starter
recently my internet has gone really slow

i am connect to the router downstairs via Belkin Pre-N Wireless Notebook Card in a PCI slot.

i used to have a fine connection and the "Wireless Network Connection Status" window had my speed at 54Mbps this has recently gone right down to 1Mbps

i have tried a Repair but that does nothing and even stops it all together sometimes.

My Signal Strength is "Excellent"

I thought this could be to do with my dad playing bf2 etc but before this started i had the 54Mbps while he was playing.

I cant even load webpages at times and cannot connect to Xfire, MSN or BF2 Account.

Any Ideas?

type 192.168.0.1 into your internet browser.....then snoop around. Somewhere in the settings it should say "misc" or "advanced" there you should have the option to change speeds

unable to connect....***?

this just doesn't add up...call your provider and ask them ***, they'll know exactly where to direct you

If he has a router and a modem, the address would normally be 192.168.1.1 ; Type this in on a computer that is physically wired into the router (you could bring it upstairs to configure it if theres none connected to it). If there isn't anything glaring obviously wrong with the settings, try chaning the channels, and maybe boosting the beacon interval.

Also i would disable windows firewall on your wireless network adapter in case it is messing things up like it so often does.

BTW this probally has nothing to do with your provider, so i don't think there is any point in calling them except maybe for advice (if they are nice and would give that for free lol)
