So it will sell well, because it's flashy, even if there's nothing new under the hood.

I'm sure that monitor costs $300-$350 range. So 99% of the consumer don't matter about the price vs resolution. So you're saying you're part of the 99% amateur who buy overpriced product? Not everyone is techsavvy but if you knew there are better monitor like the korea one, you shouldn't spend money into this monitor just because you found it flashy.

With even a 1440p screen, you have room to put two 720p videos side by side.
Of course these aren't for every mom and pop, but these monitors don't deserve a press announcement because they are so common. Maybe not many are IPS, but again, there could have done quite a few things better

Thats why you get two of them duh.....lol.

That and I think color accuracy is alot more important then it being above 60hz and a resolution higher then 1080p. Especially if i was in the market for a new monitor(s) for graphics design or video media, plus not every one is gonna see a difference between 1080p and up. Just like how I have worked with tons of people at my previous job that seen no reason to get a 1080p let alone a 720p TV because they didnt notice a difference. They only cared how big it was, how light it would be, and the electricity savings from moving from a CRT Tv was what motivated them to get one in the 1st place.

Wow, I did not expect that. I got a Planar for $260 off, only reason I went for it. I am not buying this monitor, merely stating pixel pitch doesn't matter in the long run, UNLESS you know what else is out there. The tiny bezel draws people in, and I doubt they know any higher resolution than "Full HD". So it will work out for LG.

i have a Panasonic 32" LCD TV which has an IPS panel, from 2.5 meters away its crisp but -3" to a 27" screen means your ideal viewing distance is still too far away for most pc users.

a 27" 1080p screen is almost a TV in reality not good enough to really see into the image at normal monitor viewing distances.

The more detail and resolution the more "3D" it seems, really good 2D can look 3D.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U7e_quvkPQ

ok so thats 8k ! but you get the idea look at how 2D looks 3D even on an 85" , so if when we get 4k monitors at even half the size it will look like that and of course the monitors will be even smaller than that !

I believe there are a lot of people that afraid to take the risk. Yamakasi and Crossover look amazing (especially the last one, I would like to have one) but there is higher % of getting dead pixels, bleeding, white that looks like yellow e.t.c. I don't want to deal with those kind of things.

Why? The IPS235V is €150.

seriously, anyone who sticks up for 1080p at 27 inch must be a scrub because it looks like trash after running 1600p for so long. i honestly never want a 1080p monitor again unless i decide i really want a 22 inch haha

the argument that media is 1080p is absolute BS because if i wanted the monitor solely for movies, i would buy a freakin HDTV.

anything when you sit as close as you do to a monitor (and mine is probably 4ft from my face) you simply need the higher pixel density.

if you dont need the higher pixel density, you obviously haven't had the higher pixel density. in which case, i say stick with your 1080p monitors, because ignorance is bliss. its hard as hell to find an affordable 1440 or 1600 120hz IPS screen... oh wait they dont exist.

+1

This man knows what he speaks of.....1080p is a joke and especially for graphic professionals, nobody uses that crap. Content manipulation isn't done at the same resolution as the end product, 2560x1440 allows for much more screenspace / productivity for editing tools. Whoever said that video editing requires the same resolution as the end product is 100% wrong, quite ridiculous to even suggest, if that were the case we'd have all have 720p monitors for video editing.

You're comparing to Apple and Orange. IPS235V is a 23" 1920 x 1080p. Those he mentioned are 27" at 2560 x 1440p.
