You guys seem to constantly slip over this small "issue"... when turned on, the frame around the picture is 11.6mm. Not just the metal bezel.

That 120Hz is based on interpolation. Not to mention 120Hz is only better and only should be used for motion detection purposes and not image quality.

It boggles my mind to read posts like this. "How much content is there for 1440p"? Have you ever watched a 1080p movie on a very high resolution display? It looks better, in my opinion at least.

Placebo as upscaling (aka image interpolation) in images makes everything looks worse. It has a far worse effect than increased pixel size / lower pixel density.
Even with high quality interpolation algorithms like high-pass bicubic, it still looks worse than the original.

Gees, just look at the Wiki images: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_scaling

In any case, I don't know what monitors they are hoping to compete against but unless these are priced very low I don't see why anyone would choose them over a Catleap or something similar, not if the 27" model really is 1080p.

What part of 'minimal AV content is made over 1080p' don't you get?

As I said, anything over 60Hz is only really needed for motion detection when the image is progressive scaling. In other words, FPS and real-time strat gaming, which is a VERY tiny part of the market.

Damn 'gamer mentality'.

Im using a 25" 1080p monitor, it look super sharp

this ppi hype created by apple has gone too far

If it wasn't for Apple starting it, I bet you'd be wishing you'd gotten a 21.5" 1080p screen like myself.

I've had a 24" 1080p screen and the main 21.5", the 24" had a (technically) better panel, but still looked crap when gaming because it was more pixellated; if people like pixellated screens then why does AA exist? For normal use the colours matter more than anything else, large pixels or small pixels.

Damn 'gamer mentality'.

It's less tiresome to look at a 120hz screen than 60hz even if that screen is Eizo. For someone that spends over 6 hours on his pc I would suggest a Tn 120hz with low brightness and a secondary PVa for image editing.

Bicubic is NOT a high-quality resize algorithm, it's just "higher quality" than the plain old billinear. Actual high-quality resizers are currently only used in professional offline rendering. Even if they can't give a higher-quality image, they can certainly be or at least very close to equaling the quality of native resolution.

I might have to switch my IPS side monitors for two of these bad boys. I do wish though they really had only 1.2 mm bezel and were that thin from the bottom too and had pivot option. But for the price 200-300€ they're pretty sweet. Some might not like the 1080p 27", but there's uses for that too, not all use their monitors nose attached to it. 2560x1440 is sweet, but the price isn't, nor is the perfomance requirement for three of them in Eyefinity. There's plenty of options for those already, but cheap 1080p 27" IPS thin bezel monitors are kinda hard to find these days. thumb.gif
