Which ones? (Workplace monitors)

Thread Starter
Ladies and Gents,

I currently at work have a 24" Dell 2408WFPb (in landscape orientation) and a 20" Dell 2007FPb (in portrait orientation). Works really well for what I do. Have little to no complaints about this setup.

However,

Recently, we were shipped 2 Dell 22" P2212H monitors. I've been contemplating replacing my 24" and 20" with the 2 22". I just am at ends with how to orient them. :\

Below are pics of the respective monitors.

if you could do it, do three monitor and put the 22s on the sides of the 24.
If you can do that, just 2 22 in landscape will do. But I would only do this if the 22 can do 1080p (if you are using that resolution).
If they can't do 1 24 and a 22.

I had this setup for about 6 months now I have them both in landscape.

They are 22" monitors as well.

I honestly like landscape better for the work i do (accounting). Portrait was nice for outlook but other than that I prefer landscape mode. Now i can stream Dota 2 tournaments while I am working. thumb.gif

Damn! Your desk is so tidy! Mine looks like someone dropped a bomb on it (but I can find everything I assure you). I agree with you about the orientation of your two monitors. I work in accounting also, but unfortunately have just one 20" that will pivot into portrait (cheap-ass company). For our kind of work two monitors with the orientation you have yours at is perfect.

I should clarify; I work heavily with lists (hence the 20" in portrait).

My primary workflow is done through a ticketing system (200 items/lines per page), I work with excel creating lists, I have my outlook window open in the 20". Using portrait mode is so much easier, however, being a systems admin desktop support specialist, we get the added perk of surfing the web. tongue.gif

I don't like people knowing what I do with my free time at work. It's caused the IT department a lot of grief and trouble in the past.

Also, the max is 2 monitors with my setup.

The onboard solution allows for 2 monitors, but I opted to not use that in favor for a dedicated video adapter (ATI 2270). That, too, only has 2 outs and forces the onboard video to shut off. Which is why I'm not using more than 2 monitors.

If I could, I'd throw in a second 2270, and run 4 max monitors. I just don't know if we have any extra PCI-e 2270's laying around. Not to mention, I'm not sure if my computer has a second PCI-e slot.
