Problem With NetGear Wireless Router

Thread Starter
I grabbed a Netgear Wireless router from Bestbuy last night (If needed, I'll post up the model number.), hooked it up, and it was fine. But, it completely kills the upload speed on both the Desktop that it's wired to, and the device the Wi-fi is powering.

So, in short, wireless router screws up Upload speed, but download and ping are fine. This makes no sense to me, and I've done the reset, tweaked settings, etc, but nothing helped. Depending on what you guys think I'll return it and get a new/different one, but I have a suspicion it's more than the router.

Thanks!

Make sure the settings between your home network computers are set correctly and that no software is limiting the amount of information that can be transferred. (I doubt this). Also, Try a different wireless frequency channel. I use channel 11. Enable UPNP.
If this fails, try uploading via ethernet.

Other than all that, replace the router with a different brand.

Okie Dokie, I'll mess around aboot, see what happens. If nothing works, yeah, I'll probably just grab a Cisco or something.

Thanks!

I have a netgear and it works fine for me. Did you install any software the netgear router came with? What kind of network did you setup as well?

Also, i believe (dont quote me on this cuz i do not know for sure) that you will always have a good ping and download speed but upload speeds will always be slower, in most cases.

Check your QoS settings to see if any defined upload speed is put on as that may limit your speeds.
What Netgear Router do you have?

What router model do you have?
What upload and download speeds are you expecting? i.e. What are you paying your ISP for?
